How do I calculate my BMI (body mass index)?
Many of us have seen the startling CDC findings that 61% of Americans are overweight or obese. We’ve also seen the skyrocketing instances of chronic health related maladies such as diabetes, hearth disease, high blood pressure, colon cancer, and scores of others.
With all of this new information connecting our bulging waistlines directly with many deadly diseases, more and more American’s are starting to counting calories and taking better care of themselves. What about you and your loved ones? Are you overweight or obese?
One of the best ways to find out is by calculating your Body Mass Index (BMI). There is a very simple formula to figure out your BMI and see if you are just right or should be exercising more and eating right.
BMI = [Weight in pounds ÷ Height in inches ÷ Height in inches] x 703
Example: A person weighing 210 pounds and 6 feet tall would have a BMI = 210 pounds divided by 72 inches divided by 72 inches multiplied by 703 = 28.5
