Growtein has been fortified with glutamine peptides to help support nitrogen retention for improved cellular energy production. Glutamine, in the form of peptides, has been found to be more stable and better metabolized than the more unstable "free" form. Free form L-Glutamine tends to rapidly degrade once ingested and may not be absorbed in it's original form into the blood stream in sufficient quantities.

Peptides are basically short chains of amino acids bonded together and are generally considered more absorbable because the body does not need to completely metabolize the proteins which they are derived from and then assimilate the nutrients. Instead, these peptide chains can be directly absorbed and metabolized, thus making more of their elements available for utilization.2,3 This is important in the case of L-Glutamine because it's main functions include serving as a precursor in the creation of other amino acids and glucose for the above mentioned cellular energy.

Growtein has also contains a proprietary vitamin and mineral blend to help expedite muscle repair and recovery times and boost the immune system to help you stay with your exercise schedule. Growtein contains high amounts of branched chain amino acids (BCAA). These three highly anabolic nutrients (isoleucine, leucine, and valine) are unique in their ability to be directly metabolized in the muscle tissue instead of the liver where much of it is wasted.

Leucine: Leucine is the most common amino acid found in proteins and is essential for proper lean tissue growth and maintaining the body's nitrogen balance. It is suspected that Leucine plays a part in maintaining muscles by equalizing synthesis and breakdown of proteins. Leucine is the precursor to HMB (beta-hydroxy beta-methylbutyrate).

Isoleucine: Isoleucine is one of the essential amino acids and is needed for hemoglobin formation and also stabilizes and regulates blood sugar and energy levels. It can enhance energy levels and increase endurance. It is also important in healing and repairing of muscle tissue. Deficiency of isoleucine can lead to symptoms similar to that of hypoglycemia.

Valine: Valine may help promote muscle growth and tissue repair. Valine may also benefit exercise endurance, muscular strength, and recovery time after physical activity. It is most also necessary for proper nitrogen balance in the body.

*Isoflavones are phytochemicals that are components of protein. A phytochemical is any chemical or nutrient derived from the plant source and has very potent antioxidant properties not found in animal proteins.
