  Manufacturer's Description :

Omega-III Fatty Acids are poly-unsaturated (omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids.) essential fatty acids (EFA) derived from Mackerel, Codfish, Salmon and other cold water fish. Omega III have been referred to as good fats because they help stabilize our entire metabolism with the formation of healthy cell membranes and balanced cellular fluids. The two major components of JBN Omega III are DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid).

DHA: The most vital function of DHA in the body is its ability to help reduce instances of hypertriglyceridemia. Triglycerides are fatty compounds that circulate in the bloodstream and then are stored in fat tissue. People with hypertriglyceridemia are at a higher risk of developing or aggravating diabetic conditions and heart disease. Healthy DHA levels can also can also stabilize and regulate the proper function of the nervous system.

EPA: EPA’s compliment the effects of DHA by helping to lubricate blood platelets which can help prevent the build-up arterial plaque. Excessive buildups can lead to blockages, heart attacks, strokes, and may help reduce the occurances of life-threatening thrombosis (deep vain blood clots). EPA’s are also very effective in preventing and easing symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and many other degenerative joint tissue conditions.

EPA and DHA also work together to help stabilize the electrical impulses that control heart rhythm. Even healthy people and those with no history of heart problems can suffer cardiac arrest within minutes if sudden, undetected abnormal rhythms occur.

Over 2,000 studies have been done on Omega III and their positive effects in the human body. these studies have overwhelmingly shown that optimal dietary amounts of Omega III Fatty Acids can:
1. Lower blood pressure.
2. Reduce the clotting of blood platelets and so reduce thrombosis.
3. Reduce abnormal heart beating (arrhythmia)*

Omega III fatty acids also provide many other health benefits to the human body:

Healthier Brain Function:
Omega fatty acids may be helpful in creating improved mental focus, better mood enhancement, and a better attitude.
Bowel Disorders:
Bowel diseases such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis lead to pain, weight loss, and tremendous suffering. Supplementing Omega III fatty acids can reduce symptoms such as inducing weight gain, less inflammation, and less need for medications such as prednisone.
Blood Cholesterol Levels:
Omega III’s help raise HDLs (good cholesterol) and reduce LDLs (bad cholesterols) to help ward off high blood pressure and arterialsclerosis.

Probably the most important thing to know about EFA’s is that the body CANNOT produce them naturally. They must either be ingested as part of our daily diets or supplemented.

There have been many ongoing studies and debate over what optimal recommended daily amount will properly supplement the human body for proper function. According to the Canadian FDA, you should supplement you diet with at least 1.5 grams per day of Omega III Fatty Acids. As mentioned before, Certain species of fish contain high levels of Omega III Fatty Acids and the the following list shows the average grams of Omega-III Oils in a 1/4 pound serving of fish meat.†

Cod - 3.0 grams
Flounder - 0.2 grams
Pacific Halibut - 0.3 grams
Atlantic Herring - 1.0 grams
Pacific Herring - 1.4 grams
Mackerel - 1.8 grams
Rockfish - 0.8 grams
Atlantic Salmon - 1.9 grams
Chinook Salmon - 1.8 grams
Coho Salmon - 1.8 grams
Sockeye Salmon - 3.3 grams
Sole - 0.2 grams
Lake Trout (pink meat) - 2.0 grams
Rainbow Trout - 0.5 grams
Albacore Tuna (canned) - 1.5 grams
Bluefin Tuna (canned) - 1.0 grams

†Amounts can vary widely depending on time of year and fish diet. Levels in farm-raised fish have seen no measurable difference. The Canadian FDA recommends about 1.5 grams/day of Omega-III.

A diet that includes fish is also rich in protein, calcium, and important vitamins and minerals. If you eat wild fish, check with your local fish and game department for any health advisories concerning that species.**

Recommended Usage- Take 1 soft gel 3 times a day with an 8oz. glass of water during meal times as a dietary supplement.
